Dr Joe completed his medical training at UWA in 2016 and qualified as a General Practitioner in 2023. His interests in patient-centred adolescent health, mental health and social health have been supported by residencies at Perth Children’s Hospital, Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital, and Albany Health Campus, where he obtained further qualifications via the Sydney Child Health Program and the ACEM Certificate of Emergency Medicine. His desire to further the practice of medicine has led him to co-author three research papers supporting mental health and patient care.
As a keen patient privacy advocate interested in cybersecurity and artificial intelligence, he contributed to the Department of Health and Aged Care’s Safe and Responsible Artificial Intelligence in Health Care consultation paper, participates in establishing cyber threat intelligence in Australian healthcare as part of the Critical Infrastructure Information Sharing and Analysis Centres (CI-ISAC) Health Cyber Sharing Network, and has spoken at medical conferences on these topics.
Joe pursues these interests to promote healthcare that fundamentally hears, understands and supports the individual.
